Central Question: Why are some species spread out while others are concentrated?

Guiding Thought Question:How will species adaptation and specialization act as barriers to them expanding out of their ranges?

Today's Learning Objective:
Students will learn about the differences in Endemic and Cosmopolitan Species by examining examples of species and looking at the modes through which the spread and the barriers that prevent further spread.

Species will live where they can live the easiest. Their adaptations allow them to live in specific area and traveling outside of that range will use too many resources to adapt to the new area.

If they are specialized for the arctic, they are not going to be able to live in tropical areas because they have adapted to be able to live in cold areas. They are stuck in whatever region they are adapted to.

perhaps the versatility of an animals adaptation abilities. if and animal is not fit for change in their environment, it will stay put. if an animal is able to withstand a wider range of climate types, they will explore.

Animals that are very adapted for one area won’t be able to move from that area. Whereas one species that isn’t so highly adapted to one area will be able to move

Certain species are easier to live in rather than other areas. The faster and easier they can adapt to an environment, then it's better than to suddenly leave and try an adapt somewhere else.

Their adaptions and specializations might become specific to that environment and not allow them to live in a new place

if species adapt very specifically to a certain area and become specialized in their area, they may not be able to survive in other places

Species adaptation and specialization will act as a barrier to The norther pike expanding their range because they could have predators that are higher on the food chain and can eat them. Also competition for food could be ab issue, on the map it looks like they are not in the amazon river that could be because of predators and competition for resources.

If a species becomes to specialized from adaptations they can no longer move out of their current habitat because it is the best suited one for them.

If a species has adapted to live in a specific area, they won't be able to live outside of that area because they're made to live in their new area

If a species specializes too much into certain adaptations, they can limit their range. This is exemplified through the removal of gills, where certain animals cannot live underwater unlike their ancestors. An animals range can be limited due to less extreme adaptations such as webbed feet, which can slow travel on land but speed travel in water.

It will be hard for an animal that has adapted to an area to move just because they don’t have the right tools.

If a species has developed an adaptation that is extremely specific to their current rage, they will not be able to expand as far. If a turtle that feeds on grass on the ground moves to a place where there is no grass and only tall bushes or trees, they will not be able to include that area in their range.

If it is made exclusively for one environment its traits could be detrimental in other habitats

They might adapt to live in a specific climate and could only eat a specific type of food.

If an animal has adaptations and is specialization for a specific area, then it will have trouble in other areas and will stay in the area it thrives in.

Species live wherever it is easiest for them. Some species are more restricted to one specific place while others aren't as restricted.

If an animal adapts to specifically survive in a certain ecosystem it will be difficult for it to live in another ecosystem because it doesn’t have the necessary adaptations.

If they specialize to a certain type of environment then they would only be able to survive in that type of environment.

If they are adapted to a specific area then the adapted trates it has will hinder it in different areas.
