Central Question: Why is it important to preserve our planet species? Not matter big or small Guiding Thought Question: In your own words explain what biodiversity is, why it is important, and provide an example to support your point. Today's Learning Objective: Students will learn about the ideas of biodiversity and their areas of concern my completing a map lab regarding the topic, then examining specific issues related to biodiversity. |

Biodiversity is different species in a certain area, that all live together in order to make a habitat.

Each species plays their role in the ecosystem. Species need each other for food and keeping other animals and plants in check. We have to preserve them because we have taken away so many species and resources and so the ecosystem is not in a good balance.

biodiversity is how many different species inhabit an area. It is important because the more diverse an area is the more stability it is. The amazon has a lot of biodiversity making it easier and more stable to be able to survive.

Biodiversity is the diversity of all living things in a certain area. It is important because it keeps the environment heathy by not depleting one specific resource in the area. For example, it is good to have predators in an area like wolves because then there won't be an excess of prey animals eating all of the plants in their environment.

Because every species in an important part of a ecosystem and the ecosystem could be hurt a lot without that species.

Biodiversity is the culmination of all different species within a given area. This is important because biodiversity allows for an environment which is easier to survive and thrive in (for most species). This also allows for more resources available in a certain area. An example is the Amazon Rainforest, which is an environment that has the most biodiversity in all of the planet.

Biodiversity is important to a habitat because it allows for the control of species population. Also plants and animals will have symbiotic relation ships and help each other out. Such as how fungi help the plants communicate, and how a ramora rides on a shark for food scraps and the shark gets cleaned.

Biodiversity is important because it makes a healthy ecosystem. It also prevents a disease from wiping out an entire species.
