Guiding Thought Question: Look over the slogan of the National Parks Service (as inscribed on the gate to Yellowstone National Park), and explain how the slogan relates to the purpose of protecting lands and environmental conservation in general.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine how conservation is connected to the rights of citizenship by looking at how the preservation of land benefits people, and how they can be influential in the political process.

Central Question: In what ways is the U.S. Government of the people? by the people? and for the people?

For the benefit - because we need land so we don’t destroy the world.
For enjoyment - because we should have fun in the out doors :D

The slogan allows for the education for the people. For vacations you can go to experience things you don’t see everyday.

Because it benefits the people by keeping the environment they live in alive. They enjoy seeing the parks and the wildlife in them.

The point of national parks is to have the US lands available to the general public, and protected for everyone

The national parks are for the people to enjoy animals and take a little trip but it’s also to help save the animals and conservations of the planet and environment

If it’s purpose is for the enjoyment of the people, then they can probably learn something from it, and if people are educated they can better protect the environment

The park service is made so everyone can enjoy them. They also work to save the land and the natural animals and plants that live there. That will benefit people because they can learn new things and explore.

This slogan of having parks for pure enjoyment is one of the main purposes of having national parks, and it's a point which appeals to pathos. It might be seen as one of the more selfish reasons, but it's one that most people can agree on.

The slogan relates to how protecting the planet benefits people in the sense that it's keeping our resources and environment safe, while also providing a place for people to enjoy nature and learn
