Forum 3.2 - Useful Psychology

Guiding Thought Question: You notice your teacher is starting to lose their voice trying to get the student's attentions. Come up with a suggestion for the teacher on how they can use the ideas of classical conditioning to train the students to perform a task (sitting down quietly at the beginning of class) without having to use their voice. Identify the conditioned stimuli and the conditioned response.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will be able to explain how the ideas of Classical conditioning are applied to the actual development of Learning. Students will go through notes and examples of uses of classical conditioning and then apply their learning to come up with a plan to help someone with a psychological disorder.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will be able to explain the code of ethics and the principles of guidelines in being a mandated reporter for a psychologist. Students will practice taking notes using a guided note structure and answer critical thinking questions dealing with the principle of ethics of reporting information.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will be able to describe the methods used by sociologists to collect data. Students will take notes on the different methods and then watch a video about research methods and their applications. Students will answer thought questions about these topics.

     Soft Science: Uses scientific methods but through                                             investigation it may be difficult to establish                                  strictly measurable criteria.  

Today's learning Objective: Students will be able to describe the role of different research methods and how the scientific method is used in psychological research. Students will take notes on the theories of psychological research methods and then find an experiment and answer application style critical thinking questions.

Students will examine notes dealing with the applications of Psychology and then complete an assignment where they will research and answer critical thinking questions about how psychology works with that career.
