Guiding Thought Question: Are Marine Protected Areas going to be more difficult to establish in International Waters, or the territorial waters of individual countries? Explain your answer.

​Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine what international laws apply to the use of maritime resources and examine the effect that Marine Protected Areas can have on the preservation of fisheries and protecting endangered species and ecosystems.

Guiding Thought Question: What risks do countries potentially face by promoting their protected areas to international tourists? What can they potentially gain? Why might countries not want their sites under international protected status?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will learn about the creation of UNESCO and the World Heritage Site by recording notes about the program and then doing a virtual investigation of World Heritage Sites Using Google Earth.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the distribution of terrestrial and marine protected areas by analyzing spatial data and developing an inquiry styled approach to address a question which they develop.

Guiding Thought Question: Examine the chart above showing global emissions by country and develop a geographic question (rooted it "Where?" "Why There?" "Why Care? or "What Can Be done?") about the data presented above.

Today's Learning Objective: Students examine the different ways in which countries use international agreements and relationship to address large environmental issues by taking note of the sorts of environmental cooperation and then complete a mapping assignment looking at the world's countries involvement in international agreements over space and time.

​Guiding Thought Question: Can large multinational corporations be trusted to ensure they are not causing irreparable harm to the environment or are government regulations necessary to prevent them from doing so? Explain your answer.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the ways in which businesses have a negative impact on the environment but then also how many are looking to improve their environmental footprint. Students will discuss the connections between economic and environmental systems and make scientific models displaying the relationship between corporations and the environment.

Guiding Thought Question: Why would having a world-wide government organization be beneficial to address environmental issues? Why might smaller, more localized forms of governments be better?

Today's Learning Objectives: Students will examine the ways in which the United Nations can affect the global political environment and how their initiatives can encourage a unified approach to environmentalism by reviewing and critiquing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
