Guiding Thought Question: Just like a thesis when writing a paper, why is a proper question so important when conducting an inquiry?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will begin the process of understanding the use of field data collection for informed government action by learning about field data collection techniques and planning a data collection on their own to make recommendations for governmental action in their own community.

If you don’t know what you are asking or what you are looking for it would be very hard to solve your problem or answer your inquiry.

When conducting an inquiry you want to find an answer.Having a clear, defined question will help you get a clear answer. If you have a vague question, the answers will not be helpful.

A good question is important when collecting data because you need to be able to have something to guide you through your research. You also need to understand the whole point of why you are researching something and that's what a question does.

It guides the person to answer specifically on what you are actually asking. If the question is to broad or to narrow, then the answer will not be what you actually asked for.
