Guiding Inquiry: How do human's economic habits affect the planet's species? (3.2.a, 3.3.b) Guiding Thought Question: What restrictions, if any, should there be on our abilities to buy, sell, and own different species? Why should those restrictions be there? Or, if you said there should not be any restrictions explain your reasoning. Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine how economic demands, including those of the black market, affect global species and the economic, social, political, and environmental impacts of these forces. |

I think there should be restrictions on large exotic animals to prevent black market selling.

Uhh I feel like at least there should definitely be a restriction on buying / owning other primates as pets...there should also be a restriction on endangered species, and also invasive species unless you have proper license

There definitely should be restrictions on buying and selling certain species. I don't know what type of restrictions but there should be.

some restrictions should be a thorough background check and a license obtained by attending and passing a designated class about general knowledge of different species

There should be restrictions, but they should vary according to how endangered the species is.

I think there should be restrictions on animals that aren’t domestic to buy or sell or own because most likely you don’t have the proper experiences to have this animal in your care. Also, personally I think allowing that with no restrictions would let it get out of hand and it would overall be harmful to the animals.

restrictions are nessacary to help keep endangered species off the market, I will not have a night of peaceful sleep until pangolins stop being the most trafficked animals in the entire world. I understand that the laws aren't strong enough and we need harsher punishment. Killing an endangered animal should be considered homicide. Trafficking an endangered animal should be considered the same as human trafficking

There should be restrictions from what species you can buy and who can buy them. Such as if they are actually decent people who will actually care for the animal.

Yes, because some people may not be properly qualified to handle and own like exotic animals. They also might not have the correct space for the animals to properly enjoy themselves.

I believe there should be restrictions on endangered species and big exotic animals unless they have the right background and license for the job. They need to sell to buyers that know what they are doing and how to keep the animal safely and happily.

Yes, there should 100% be restrictions when it comes to buying, selling, and owning different species. I don't think that any endangered species should be owned as domestic pets. Also, there should be restrictions on owning primates. I think these restrictions are necessary to help protect species.

There should be a restriction on taking wild animals out of their habitat for humans to own, especially if the animals don’t have a stable population in the wild.

We need restrictions so that species populations won't decline. Animals are being killed and sold in the black market. And in order to get rid of this we need restrictions!

Some species can be detrimental to ecosystems if they were able escape. For example the pythons in the everglades. Some species are also very dangerous to people and should require specific training and facilities for the safety of handlers and the animals.

I think that there should be regulations on any exotic or endangered animals. I would also do everything possible to outlaw black market trading. This is to protect the species numbers, as well as to help the purity of the transaction of animals and their quality of life.

There are many reasons why there should be limits and restrictions. Not only is the black market an issue, alien species are a real problem.

I think there should be restrictions so that we can protect the different animals from being killed and sold illegally so we don’t harm them. Especially with endangered animals

Any animals that are exotic, or considered dangerous should have restrictions placed on the ownership of them for their health and safety, as well as the safety of the humans.
