Guiding Thought Question: If America did not invent a lot of the philosophies of governance, what makes the American system of government so unique?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the philosophical origins of the ideas that were incorporated into the creation of the United States government by completing a geoinquiry style webquest.

Central Question: Where did the United States get some of its ideas for how government should operate?  (1.1.a)

America used the philosophies of Greece and Rome but the founders combined what they wanted to make America’s government. America is unique because the whole government was built from the ground up relatively recently.

Basically I'm pretty sure we just have more rights and freedoms, and Washington D.C. is a government town, whatever that means, and I feel like we kind of just tell people we're special until they believe us.

The thing that makes the American system of government so unique is that people will make America look so good, and yet there is still so much wrong with the government.

It was one of the first and few modern democratic republics to have had the stability to last this long.

If America did not invent a lot of the philosophies of governance we use today I think our government would be more similar to the governments that make up Europe or other large continents. I think that the American Government is so unique because we formed our government with new ideas other governments never introduced.

I think the American System of Governance is unique because of the unusual power it gives to the people, and the effectiveness of the checks and balances present. Other democracies exist, but they aren't as secure in their protections of civil liberties (e.g., hungary stripping freedom of the press by eliminating opposition radio stations).
However, some of these perspectives could be the result of propaganda.

Some things that are unique about it are all the written in freedoms and the ability to vote for things other than president

The fact that the US is a democracy is unique during the time the government was forming. Likely the people in America saw the flaws of other governments and sought out a way of correcting the flaws. In our case it was making a government for the people by the people.

Americas government is very unique because it is more based around the people and what they want rather than basic core beliefs like other governments.

The United States based their government system on many European and Ancient Greek philosophies, however I think the American system of government is so unique because it’s so new compared to many other countries, and it combines multiple ways of government into one such as a republic and a democracy.

The Freedom is stands for, you can speak up and advocate for your values and beliefs. You can dress, talk and express yourself how you’d like. In addition, you can also have rights no matter what gender, age or groups you “belong to”.

The American government is so unique because it is not solely one system, it is a collection of many different systems, ideas, practices, etc.. The government has just adapted new ways to better itself and the American people over the years.

I would say that America’s government is unique in how most of the power is given to the people. The government is there to protect the freedoms of the citizens.
