Guiding Inquiry: How can individuals use the scientific process to investigate and solve global issues?

Guiding Thought Question: Why does it make sense that you should try to make a career out of something that you enjoy instead of trying to meld yourself into an already available career? What are the benefits of doing a career for enjoyment versus a career for money?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will explore how an interest in science can be applied towards solving global issues and how to make a career out of it.

 Guiding Inquiry: What role do different individuals, organizations, and corporations have in taking action? (3.5.b, 3.4.c, 3.2.a, 1.2.c, 1.2.d)

Guiding Thought Question: Whose responsibility is It to take appropriate actions to preserve the environment? (individuals, non-profits, corporations, or governments) What can we do to ensure that those groups actually take responsibility and fulfill their duties?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the ideas of individual vs. corporate vs. government responsibility by examining examples of issues and how they are caused, versus how are they being addressed.

Guiding Inquiry: How can you use your interests for a future career to help make the planet better for everyone? (2.1.b, 2.2.d)

Guiding Thought Question: Why does it make sense that workers for the private sector (for-profit businesses) would make more over the course of their career than people working in the public sector (non-profit or government)? Explain a reason and how this might affect the impact this will have on the goal of environmental conservation.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will learn about different careers related to environmental conservation and what they would need to do to further pursue them, and how they could use their work to help the environment by conducting a webquest and making an informational poster.

Guiding Thought Question: Review the UN's SDGs, which one is of the greatest concern in your community? Explain your reasoning.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will learn about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and brainstorm ways in which they can take actions to address issues on a local and global level.
