Guiding Inquiry: How can tourism be helpful for increasing a person's global awareness and what effects might it have on the local environment? (2.8.b, 2.9.a, 2.10.b, 3.1.a, 3.1.b, 3.2.a, 3.2.b, 3.2.c, 3.3.b, 3.4.a, ,3.4.b)

Guiding Thought Question: Tell the story about one of your own experiences (in 3-4 sentences) you have had traveling and how it has helped increase your knowledge about the world.


Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the different forms of tourism, with a specific emphasis on ecotourism in how tourism can be beneficial and harmful to the planet. Students will examine the effect of tourism in the Galapagos and Iceland, and use evidence from articles to formulate their own opinions about the benefits or detrimental effects of tourism to earth's pristine locations.
