Forum 2.11 - Desirable or Not

3/24/2019

Central Question: Why might life in high altitudes be so difficult for plants and animals?

Guiding Thought Question: Come up with one reasons why mountains might be an attractive place to live, and one reason why living near them may not be as desirable.

Today's Learning Objective: Students will go over the differing ecosystems associated with the alpine biomes, and their locations, and then examine what adaptation species who live in those areas have in order to better survive there.

It would be nice to live in a mountian because you can graze animals on it. One reason living on a mountian would not be the best is because it can be hard to farm crops depending on where you are on the mountain.

One reason for why it would be good to live on mountains is for isolation but on the other hand, living near them is a con due to potential natural disasters that could occur such as landslides or rockfalls. Other factors include uninhabitable land or proper areas for plantation

Relaxing environment with cool wildlife. Harsh winter weather and isolation.

Mountains have good views, are fun to hike, have interesting plants and animals, create microclimates (allowing you to escape rain or heat), and allow for sports such as skiing.
Mountains can also make travel more expensive, cause heavy snowfalls or rains, be isolating, and sometimes a Mr. T. can be found which is really scary and can lower house values.

the scenery is very nice to look at and tons of recreation, but it is dangerous and hard to navigate and drive up the mountains during the winter

mountains are a cool place to live because they’re BEAUTIFUL and they also provide a lot of recreational activities. they’re not fun to live near because sometimes any weather coming over the mountain can be pretty unpredictable. also: driving up them is hard!

pretty and the land is usually more spaces out and more "naturey" but also it might be hard to get stuffs out there to build things.

The fact that mountains can be extremely pretty with smazing animals

The mountains are very appealing and not a lot of people live next to really big ones. The issue is that they can be really dangerous if there would to be a rock slide or an avalanche.

More temperate climates, they have a strong prevalence of trees and vegetation. Furthermore, there are less people and a better view

they might want to because its beautiful and to get away from a lot of people some bad things might be the price and how cold it might get

reasons to live there, a lot of fresh air in the mountains

reasons why you might not want to live there is because you can fall off a cliff

haha

could be lots of snow storms during the winter
