Forum 2.6 - Bring the Arctic Home

1/25/2022

Guiding Thought Question: Write up an argument on why people here in Nebraska should care about what is happening in the Arctic. Make sure to thoroughly articulate your point.

Guiding Inquiry: What is unique about the Tundra as a region, where is it located, and what issues is it facing due to the warming climate?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine and be able to explain issues related to the Arctic and the Antarctic, and further dive into concerns related to the regions in their unit portfolio (3.3.a, 3.2.a)

Because if something happens to that, over time it will happen to us. It's an indicator as to if our planet is healthy or not

People in Omaha should care about what is happening in the Arctic because it effect our weather. If the weather in the Arctic changes so does ours. This can lead to more or less precipitation, colder days, etc. If the Arctic continues to warm our weather patterns will become more and more unstable, leading to us getting snow on spring break, and 120 degree summer days.

Because what happening in the Arctic will be happening everywhere, even in Nebraska, and these changes due to climate change are even noticeable today here.

The Tundra is a unique because it has no form of an ecosystem or a lack there of. The species that due inhabit Tundras are specifically built for the large mountainous terrains. The Tundras are located in high polar regions and the lower arctic regions (such as Antarctica) and is facing major land mass loss due to the majority of the land being made up of ice. The yearly amount has decreased each time due to global warming and in return is hurting the very few ecosystems that live in the biome

People here should care about the arctic because what happens in the arctic affects us. First, there are lots of animals in the arctic, especially fish, that human communities rely upon. Second, if weather patterns change in the arctic, this can lead to changing weather patterns other places in the world, such as winds from the arctic blowing south. Finally, the sea ice in the arctic cools down the rest of the world.

people in the midwest should care about what happens in the arctic because it affects us. our weather has been altered pretty severely because of the arctic. last winter we had insanely low temperatures because arctic winds were shifting down. the arctic determines a lot of what happens with our weather and climate

There are many reasons why we should worry about the arctic. since the arctic is changing due to global warming, it also effects our climate and weather.

Because it will effect the entire world when sea levels rise even if you are being some sort of selfish person the climate around the world will change effecting you and I’m sure there will be many changes to power and STOCKS

Most people don't consider that the arctic largely affects weather patterns.

Climate change has a global resounding impact on all areas of the Earth. All ecosystems are interconnected. Thus, the changes in the arctic will also change the weather patterns and general climate of areas. Overtime, this can easily diminish the stability of ecosystems, impacting all aspects of the area.

People in Nebraska should care about what is happening in the arctic due to the fact that if the Arctic gets destroyed/ deconstructed essentially, then the polar vortex will most likely become unstable in a dangerous way and what happened in Texas could become frequent and more dramatic.

People in nebraska should care about what is happening in the arctic because in the natural world when something bad happen to one area it inevitable effects all of the other areas of the world in some way shape and form.

well first of all there is many reasons on why we should worry about the arctic, some reasons could be global warming that effects our climate and weather. as i said before we cause massive problems part of the climate change is the ice is melting causing the animals that live on the ice to lose their homes and if im not mistaken when the ice melts that can cause floods in other water areas especially like florida and texas
