Guiding Thought Question: Reading for Information - Read the Article "Will Moose Thrive or Die Because of Climate Change?" by Shannon Hall in the Scientific American. In the forum space provide a list of reasons why climate change has been helpful for moose populations, and a list of reasons why it has been harmful to moose populations. Guiding Inquiry: How do the large boreal forests on the Arctic and Sub-arctic compare to the forests found elsewhere around the world? Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the specifics of how changes to the taiga are affecting the distributions of plants and animals by completing analytical reading activities and compiling information into their unit portfolio. rising temps have helped them expand their territory northward, food sources are increasing rapidly, but migration can cause more disease, moose will encroach on the existing inhabitants of the tundra, and deer are also moving north which kills off moose through the spread of disease

Climate change has been helpful for Moose populations by expanding their potential range to the North, as their ideal habitat is pushed northwards by climate change. Climate change has been harmful to moose populations by shrinking their potential range in the South due to increased parasites and competitions from deer and other herbivores.

It seems to be beneficial for their species that they'd have a larger territory, however with the larger territory there come along new diseases.
