Stress - "Stress is a normal psychological and physical reaction to the demands of life. A small amount of stress can be good, motivating you to perform well. But multiple challenges daily, such as sitting in traffic, meeting deadlines and paying bills, can push you beyond your ability to cope." (Mayo Clinic)

Guiding Thought Question: Why is it important to be able to recognize stress? What are healthy and unhealthy ways of managing stress?

Guiding Inquiry: Why is personal mental health important in ensuring your ability to do what you want/need to do to your full potential?

Today's Learning Objective: Students will examine the concept of stress by taking an inventory of their own stress and learning about stress management strategies which they will be able to apply to their personal health management plan.

well if you have a whole bunch of stress and someone triggers you, you'd most likely be on edge and are more likely to get mad if someone triggers you

It wouldn't be good to stress about what you are stressed about all of the time, because if you think about what stresses you out all of the time then you would only get worse.

Recognizing stress is important for everyday function. Stress can continually compound to push someone over their limit, to a point of caring to much or losing care for anything. It is important to address and find coping ways before it reaches this point. It is healthy to talk about stress relieve it with personal activities. It is unhealthy to let it build up or use it against yourself and others

You need to be able to see your own signs of stress so that you can do something about it. If you can't see it in yourself then it will never get better. Healthy: things that are productive and help you reset (going on a walk, getting a snack, basically anything that gets you away from the issue). Unhealthy: not confronting it at all and just sitting in your stress and not doing anything about it.This can cause breakdowns, violence, isolation etc.

You need to recognize stress to make sure you know your limits and knowing when you need to step away for a second and somehow calm down like playing music, or self care.

Stress is like having a weight on your shoulders. A little bit of stress, and you can be motivated to get stronger. Too much stress and your knees will buckle and cwimble under it all and collapse like a house of cards.

It is important to be able to recognize stress so that you can effectively manage it. It's also good to be able to recognize stress so you don't overwork yourself. Some good ways of handling stress are doing things you enjoy or taking a break. Unhealthy ways of dealing with stress are taking to long of a break and doing self destructive behaviors.

Stress is when you feel a sense that you are overwhelmed or too focused on one activity. Healthy stress gets you to turn in an assignment or make it to class on time. Unhealthy stress can be shown by a lack of interest in other things and panicking about things that stress you out. I manage by having a planner and staying positive.

Too much stress can kill you I think right idk but stress is very unhealthy. You can handle it with coping mechanisms like watching tv or being with people or as I like to do avoid what’s stressing me out

Stress may be an unbalanced feeling, with signs of irritation, etc. There are many ways to cope with stress, but it really just depends on what is causing the stress. We mainly just need to learn how to step away without calling it "lazy"

Being able to recognize stress because when you just let stress sit there it will tear you apart. The more you just let it sit it will just get worse and cause problems. Ways to deal with stress is find what is stressing you out and try to fix it. Do things to take your mind off things for a bit then you can deal with the stress better.

It’s better to realize that your under pressure so you can handle it properly. I’m not exactly sure how to answer the proper way to deal with stress since everyone has their own way of handling it, but it is bad to not confront it and let it eat at you.

it is very important to recognize stress so you can tackle and resolve it. because weather or not you recognize it, it still affects you all the same. and if you dont recognize it, you could find yourself miserable and not know the source

It's important to be able to recognize stress because if you don't deal with it in some way it can eat you up and make you a mean, short-tempered person. A healthy way to deal with stress could be hanging out with friends, doing something you like, or going for a drive. An unhealthy way to handle stress is drug abuse or punching holes in the wall.

It is healthy to recognize stress because it allows you to notice if it is unhealthy. If it is unhealthy, you can then deal with it in a way that is healthy to you.
Some healthy ways of coping with stress could be going out for a walk, watching some funny videos, listening to music, talking with a friend, or even taking a small break to recharge. Some unhealthy ways of coping is possibly taking your stress out on things or living things, completely ignoring the work, eating lots of food, isolating yourself for extended periods of time, and possibly using dangerous substances.

It is important to recognize stress because of how overwhelming it can really get. A healthy way to cope with stress would be taking a self care day all yo yourself. And an unhealthy way to manage your stress is to ignore it and not do anything about it, this keeps your feeling bottled and eventually could lead to having unhealthy habits.
